MY SPECIALTIES
Anxiety & Depression
Symptoms can often interfere with your daily functioning including: difficulty sleeping, poor appetite/overeating, lack of energy or motivation, difficulty focusing, intrusive thoughts, isolating from friends/family, irritability, and feelings of hopelessness.
Divorce/Blended Family Issues
Parenting/Adolescent Issues
Parenting is the hardest job of all. Being an adolescent isn't so easy either. If you are worried about your teen but s/he won't talk to you, counseling can help by providing your teen a safe place to explore feelings while promoting healthy decision making skills. Or the counseling can be for yourself to provide support with the many challenges of parenting.
The end of a relationship can be devastating to individuals and families. Merging families and households is a complex process. Adapting to stepparent roles, co-parenting with ex-partners and compromising parental expectations are just some of the struggles. (See below for divorce group info)
Sexual Assault & Incest Survivors
Survivors often struggle with flashbacks, triggers, anger and intimacy issues regardless of whether the assault occurred yesterday or 20 years ago. Counseling can help with the healing process while identifying ways to reclaim your life.
Grief & Loss
The death of a loved one or the loss of a significant relationship can trigger depression symptoms. Counseling can provide you with the support you need to process your feelings in a healthy way and teach you how to take care of yourself emotionally.
Trauma/Abuse or Neglect
Trauma often causes anxiety and depression. It can be from a single event or from an ongoing situation, past or present. Symptoms can include: physical and/or emotional triggers, avoidance, somatic symptoms, hypervigilance, and an excessive need for control.
